Decorating Your Dorm Room

Cute and simple dorm decor that’s easy to put together!

When I started looking into decorating my dorm I naturally took to the internet for ideas and just became overwhelmed. I ended up with so many ideas that were expensive, time consuming, or unrealistic to fit in such a small amount of space. After further thought, I found out that a more minimalistic approach was just as effective to sprucing up my little room.

First things first, the star of the show…… the bed! Let’s be honest, this is the main (or only) focal point of most dorm rooms. In in my case I ended up in a 2 person room with a community bathrooms. So this is the majority of my room. I was in love with my bed at home so I didn’t skimp on this one. Let me say I’m so happy with how it turned out because I spend LOTS of time in it, get so many complements on it, and frankly I love how it looks. To start off building my bed I got an all white bed spread. I know what you’re thinking, yikes. But, truthfully it hasn’t caused me any issues, it’s super comfortable, and it looks so clean! (Side note: tide pens work great on comforters.) Choosing white bedding also allowed me to go crazy with color in all places around my bed and not have too much of a clash. I got queen sized bedding and this has made all the difference. My bed is so comfortable and I didn’t need a bedskirt! Both the bedding and sheet sets are from Marshalls and I linked similar ones bellow. My pink throw pillow was TJ Maxx and the front throw pillow cover is from pottery barn. This was one of the more expensive items on the bed for what a throw pillow is worth but I think it turned out perfect and it really pulls everything together. The blue blanket on the front of my bed is from Hobby Lobby (barefoot dreams dupe) and I think it also pulls together the bed. My “head board” is amazon and I was skeptical of its usefulness but I am so thankful for it now.

Now for what made the room, my collage wall. This part of the room probably gets the most complements and it was so easy! The prints are all from amazon and were pretty cheap. The gold frames are from Hobby Lobby and I think they elevated the look so well! This was one of the easiest things to do and it completely changed the wall. Finally, the angel wings. These are from amazon as well and were the perfect focal point. They were also fairly inexpensive as far as neon signs go.

Finally, my rug. This was one of the cheapest rugs of this size on amazon and it turned out perfect for this room. I was worried about all of the colors but they definitely hide any messes and bring more to the space, having white bedding.

I hope you get some ideas from this post! Overall decorating my dorm was so much fun after I made a plan of action. Sometimes a Pinterest worthy room is easier than you think and can be achieved pretty easily!
